Marlborough

Malborough is the place to go if you are looking for a relaxing holiday surrounded by beautiful scenery, great food and a number of great activities. Stretching from the Malborough Sounds to Kaikoura, the region is a food and wine lover's paradise with over 60 vineyards in the area. While in the region visit an art gallery, join a wine trail, take a walk through the local forest or simply relax in a secluded spot.

Malborough, located on the north-east corner of the South Island, is the country's largest wine making region. Home to just over 40 000 residents the region extends from the Marlborough Sounds to the rugged coastline of Kaikoura. The region offers visitors year-round sunshine, gourmet food, beautiful scenery and outdoor adventure to get your heart pumping. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, relax in natural surroundings and fill your tummy with delicious cuisine then Malborough is the perfect destination for you.

Picton Harbour  
There is so much to see and do in Malborough whose main centres are Blenheim and Picton. You can learn about the area's history in a museum, visit art galleries, sample the local wine at a vineyard, take the boat out on the Picton Harbour, explore the area on a bush walk or mountain bike ride, swim with dolphins or simply have a picnic at one of the beautiful public gardens. There are a number of great walking tracks in the region ranging in difficulty and length.

Home to over 60 wineries, Malborough is a gourmet paradise. The combination of award winning wines, local produce and international cuisine has produced amazing food across the region. Take advantage of the number of restaurants, cafes, delicatessens and coffee bars while visiting the area. While Sauvignon Blanc is the region's specialty other popular wines include Riesling, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Artists flourish in the relaxed Malborough region. Here you will find photographers, writers, visual artists, potters and more. Art galleries are scattered across the region including the Millennium Art Gallery. Musicals and plays are also popular with productions held every year.

Malborough has a jam-packed events calendar including the Picton Maritime Festival, the Malborough Wine Festival, Tua Marina Rodeo, Kaikoura Seafest and many more.

You can get to Malborough by car, ferry from Wellington or plane. Air New Zealand flies into Blenheim from a number of major cities and Sounds Air flies into Picton.
