Helensville is a unique town in the North Island, New Zealand, 40 kilometres northwest of Auckland. The small town is nestled beside the Kaipara River on the south edge of the Kaipara Harbour.
Helensville has relaxed and comfortable lifestyle and has plenty to offer tourists and locals. Such as some superb activities including harbour cruising, natural thermal pools, fishing, golf, horse riding, restaurants, nearby vineyards, beaches and heaps more.
With Auckland so close, Helensville is easily accessible, it has a wealth of recreational facilities and there are plenty of places to stay overnight while you're enjoying it all.
Helensville History
The first European settlers in the area were Scottish timber millers named McLeod but who had travelled from Nova Scotia to New Zealand. John McLeod built a house which he named "Helen's Villa" in honour of his wife, and the name soon became the name of the town.
