My Girlfriend is also a huge fan of the Lord of the Rings and she's taken me on a couple of tours of where the film was shot. There are a few different tours available but the ones we went on were with Wanaka Sightseeing which only takes a max of 5 people and also the Rover Ring Tour which lasts all day. My girlfriend and I had a ball.

I was just looking under the attractions on this site and I noticed that they have a Lord of The Rings package. You should check it out, it looks pretty good.

RE: LORD OF THE RINGSREPLY POSTED BY : Rick James on 19 March 2008 at 16:42:36 Ok i would suggest you go and check out some of the south island. The best tour i have been on to date is the the milford sound Flight.
It is abosultely amazing, you can see where some of the lord of the rings was filmed. While you are there check out glenorchy and arrow town they also are great places of interest. REPLY | PRINT | EDIT |
RE: LORD OF THE RINGSREPLY POSTED BY : Ross on 20 March 2008 at 13:01:18 Yes i have been on the flight tour, it is unbelieveable. The pilot is great they explain there role in the filming, taking cast, crew and props to and from sets.
This is definately a tour to do. I also reccommend the cruise through milford sound. It is alot more relaxing and you can enjoy wines, great food and people. You will be happy to know that most of the cruises are all day so lunch and dinner is provided.
