RE: SKIING DESTINATIONS

Hi there in regards to timing the best time to go will be july / August this is when the mountain is usualy as its best, you can guarantee the mountain will nearly have full coverage.

But as to knowing what mountains to go to, thats up to you. Depends whether you ski or snowboard and the level of your ability.

There are two well known slopes in southern south island at Queenstown called Coronet Peak and The Remarkables both of these are great mountains as they cater for everyone.

Also there is Treblecone and Cardrona that are for the more advanced riders and are approx 1 to 2 hours from Queenstown.

If you are not heading to the southern part of the south island and are looking for a ski field around the nothern part of the south island then try christchurch and head to Mt Hutt. This is an awesome all round mountain that caters for everyone.

The drive between christchurch and Queenstown is approx 6-7hours depending on how frequently you need to stop. This is incase you want to see more of NZ and check out some more slopes.

Just a little insight, the drive 6-7 hour drive is Amazing! you will love ever bit of it.

Enjoy your trip.

Check out the ski information tab on this site, gives you plenty of information about skiing in NZ.

RE: SKIING DESTINATIONS

Hi there, South island is great and i love it also love Wanaka in the south island.

But my personal favourite is The North Island it holds two skiing locations at Mt Ruapehu, these are Whakapapa and Turoa. These are very similar style mountains, large and are great family fun. Whakapapa and Turoa cater for all levels of riding, especially the beginners.

You will find that no matter where you ski in new zealand you will enjoy it. The weather is also great from about late June to early September. Hope you enjoy it no matter where you go.
