Mount Cook Spectacular - Helicopter FlightAoraki Mount Cook is New Zealand’s highest mountain and sits in the heart of the Mount Cook National Park. This World Heritage area is a stunning collection of natural beauty and contains 22 of New Zealand’s 27 mountains which stand over 10,000 feet high, some of which sit within 20 miles of the coastline.

Combine these rugged peaks with long glaciers, blue ice, turquoise lakes, dense green rainforest and dry grasslands and you have the recipe for some of the most breathtaking scenery you are likely to find anywhere. The natural contrasts of this area are striking and they can only be truly appreciated from the air.

Departing from Christchurch you will track down to Mt Cook flying over the Canterbury Plains, New Zealand’s largest area of flat land and on into the heart of the Southern Alps. We’ll show you the country’s longest glacier – The Tasman and the Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers which descend down into the level of the West Coast Rainforest – truly amazing.

As well as numerous glaciers we’ll show you alpine lakes, dry grasslands, dense green rainforests and stunning blue ice. If the weather permits we may even get you right to the top of our country at over 12,300 feet (you’ll be able to say you’ve climbed Mount Cook!). From here the view can only be described as incredible. Ocean, rainforest, mountains, glaciers and lakes in a 360 degree panorama. You need to see this in your lifetime!

As part of this awesome trip, depending on the season, we can provide you with a gourmet picnic to enjoy on a mountain top or beside a mountain lake or, if it is a bit cold out we can stop off for lunch or light refreshments at the West Coast town of Franz Josef or at the high country resort, Terrace Downs before returning to Christchurch.
