Experience a 3 day adventure in New Zealand's central North Island. You are guaranteed the time of your life as you ride on tracks set in stunning forests, enjoy a soak in an outdoor thermal pool, kayak on Lake Rotoiti and delight in a scenic walk and Maori cultural experience!

Description

We meet you in Rotorua and travel to the stunning Whakarewarewa Redwoods; NZ's premiere mountain biking area. You are fitted with suspension bikes and protective helmets. We begin with an easy, rolling track to judge the group's ability, and continue riding the fantastic tracks through forests and native bush depending on your level of ability and skills.

We meet back at the shuttle vehicle for a side-trip to a popular local café. Early afternoon finds us riding once again in this world-class terrain.

After an exciting afternoon, we pack up our bikes and check into our executive accommodation and get ready for a well earned dinner. We reunite for breakfast the next morning and another terrific day outdoors for a splendid morning kayaking on beautiful Lake Rotoiti and a paddle across the lake to the thermal hot pools.

We travel towards the coast for a lunch of fish & chips on the beach, continuing to a marae about 30 minutes outside of Ohope.

In traditional fashion, we are welcomed to the marae as honoured guests and participate in their official customs. We learn about their ancestry and listen to their many stories. Having prepared the hangi dinner, we are able to assist and watch as they lift our meal from its earthen oven. Those who have chosen to experience a marae stay are able to select a bed in the communal sleeping area, as is custom.

Alternatively, those who have opted for more private overnight accommodation are returned to Ohope to their beachfront luxury apartment. Following breakfast, we again reunite as one group and begin our return travel and stop for a walk. We then return to Rotorua.

Session Details

We are open all year round and bookings are essential. This experience is two nights/three days in duration.

Experience Participants

This experience requires a minimum of 2 people. We provide 1 experienced guide for every 6 people. We are able to service groups of up to 25 people upon request. Most trips average 4 people plus your guide.

Participant Guidelines

We operate with a minimum of 2 people. You must be able to ride a bike, and have good general fitness. Please tell us your height and weight when making a booking, as we custom bikes to suit the rider. Asthmatics are reminded to bring their inhaler on the experience.

Participant Dress Code

We recommend a T-shirt / singlet, long-sleeve thermal shirt, light weight wind/rain jacket, shorts, socks & running shoes, swimsuit for the spa and a change of clothes. Optional: Hydration Camelback, eye wear (clear or light-tint glasses for mud).

Other Information

You will need to fill out a client release form. These may be returned either by fax, post or handed in on the day prior to the activity. We supply sleeping bags, liners & pillows for marae stayers. You must be 13 years of age and over to participate in this activity.
