Pottery Introductory Lesson - Full Day (EBP041) : Gift Voucher

Pottery Introductory Lesson - Full Day - Arts & CraftsEver wanted to make your own ceramics? Then try your hand at the ancient art of pottery under the expert tutorage of a Kiwi potter. Relax and experience the deep satisfaction of completing your own creations while soaking up the ambience of an artists' retreat.

Description

On this course, you will make your own personalised mug in the morning. Then after lunch, you'll make a small sculptural or modelled piece as well as spending up to three quarters of an hour trying out the potter's wheel.

The course begins at 9.00am and the first hour involves preparing the clay and observing demonstrations of techniques used to make very satisfactory hand built mugs.

The rest of the morning is spent practising the technique and building your own mugs with guidance on hand to assist you when needed.

Lunch is provided on this course and afterwards there is a demonstration of a technique used to make small sculptural or modelled pieces. The rest of the afternoon is spent making these.

At some time during the day you will get the opportunity to sit at the potter's wheel (for up to three-quarters of an hour) and have a go at throwing a pot! It is fun, but hard work!

Near the end of the day we get you to select your most successful pieces, name them and place them on the shelves to dry. We will glaze, fire and send them to you ready for use.

Please note: a charge to cover freight and packaging will apply depending on weight and destination.
